BMW Group announced its cooperation with Paramount Pictures for producing the long-waited film “Mission: Impossible – Fallout,” with the BMW M5 appearing alongside Tom Cruise once again takes on the role of the espionage bound spy, Ethan Hunt. The opening of the movie is set to begin worldwide on the 27th of July.
BMW has been a partner of the iconic film series since 2011, and in the upcoming film, BMW once again provides a range of vehicles and a global marketing campaign in support of the big release.
In the new movie, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team, played by actors Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames; along with some familiar allies including Rebecca Ferguson and Michelle Monaghan, as they race against time to, yet again, keep their mission from failing. And guess what! The cast are all reinforced with the new BMW M5 and a number of other BMW models, including the 1986 BMW 5 Series Sedan, the BMW 7 Series Sedan and the BMW R nineT Scrambler, now that’s what we call a movie.
The BMW M5 makes an impressive appearance in the film as it came styled with the characteristic BMW M Performance Parts, such as a black kidney grille and carbon-fibre mirror caps; besides a monstrously powerful 4.4-litre V8 biturbo engine with TwinPower Turbo technology and 441 kW/600 hp and the newly-developed high-performance M xDrive all-wheel drive, we didn’t have any problems memorizing those specs for some reason. The BMW M5 makes sure that Cruise’s Ethan Hunt always has the best-possible transportation, that’s meant for “in the nick of time” saves and a superior driving dynamic to keep him ahead and of his enemies, even a bit cheekily boastful about it.
The movie also show cased the BMW R nineT Scrambler in key scenes, performing daring moves at rapid speeds in a wild chase that cuts straight through Paris like a smooth butter knife. The 1986 BMW 5 Series Sedan, from BMW’s historical past, makes a major appearance in a super scene, setting an obvious new standard for the action-film genre, which we’re allowed to brag about too.
As part of the collaboration with Paramount Pictures, BMW’s global “Mission to Thrill” themed marketing campaign will promote and support the theatrical release and includes cobranded broadcast TV media highlighting a range of different vehicles, print ads and digital media across BMW websites as well as other key channels, including dealership activations and more will keep audiences on their toes for quite some time.
When you think of it, you find that “BMW and ‘Mission: Impossible’ are a perfect fit. It’s partnership with Paramount Pictures easily exhibits the stunning abilities of our favorite BMW’s and motorcycles. The result is of course timeless cinema that will have you gripping at the edge of your seat.
We’re big on impactful closes, hence we’ll leave you with Uwe Dreher’s thoughts, head of Brand Communications BMW, BMW M, BMW i., during our interview with her that caught our attention “For exciting chases, you need cars with impressive driving dynamics and handling,” “This provides the ideal stage for our most dynamic business athlete: the BMW M5.”
